I paint and bake in the same California kitchen. Sourdough, Just a Starter began when a jar in the fridge started to feel like a character — a small dab of starter with refrigerator friends, on her way to becoming a loaf.

I am a speech and language pathologist. I work with students every day, and I care about stories children can hear out loud: friendship, patience, and finding where you belong.

I am a wife and mother. Our two girls are grown (mostly), and my husband and I are empty-nesters. I still write and illustrate at the kitchen table.
